No — and we won't tell you it does. It's cool-touch: cool the instant they lie down, re-cools when they move. Freeze it for ten minutes for extra cold. It gives them a surface reliably cooler than the floor, which is what they're after.
Do I need to add water, freeze it, or plug it in?
None of that. It works straight out of the box at room temperature. The freezer is optional, for extra cold.
Is it safe if my dog chews?
